Who’s Winning in Peru’s Imports? Tea Surprises, Minerals Boom, and Auto Materials Shake Up the Market
Peru’s Tea Imports See a Decline… but Some Players Are Thriving
In September 2024, under HS0902, Peru’s tea imports took a hit, dropping by 28% compared to last year. But while the overall numbers are down, some importers are making big moves. Negociaciones Marluks S.A.C. emerged as a new player, leading with 26,400 kg and capturing 37% of the market. America Capon Sac isn’t far behind, with an impressive 154% increase, now holding 27% of the market.
Other notable performers include Solana Comercial S.A.C., which saw a staggering 981% growth, although still holding just 1% of the market. Laboratorios Smasac remains strong, keeping 32% of the share, despite a slight decline of 9%.
As for countries of origin, Argentina still dominates with 69% of Peru's tea imports, despite a 38% decline. But keep an eye on China, which grew by 39%, and Colombia, which saw a remarkable 1121% increase, though they represent just a small slice of the pie.
Here’s the thing: Some companies and countries are seeing explosive growth despite the overall decline. If you’re in the tea business, there’s clearly room for strategic moves. What’s your take? Are you ready to make your move? Let me know in the comments. 💡
