Peru’s Woven Fabrics of Cotton (<85%) Imports Grow by 32% in August 2024
In August 2024, Peru’s imports of woven fabrics of cotton with less than 85% cotton content under HS5209 increased by 32% compared to the same month in 2023, totaling $4.74M. Colortex Perú S.A. Peru S.A. led the market with a significant increase of 125%, importing $1.88M and capturing 40% of the market share.
Vicunha Têxtil, despite a 17% decline, imported $1.05M, holding 22% of the share. Corporation Lucent Export S.A.C. saw a remarkable rise of 282%, contributing $401K (8%).
Other notable importers include Richatex Perú SAC, which increased its imports by 30% to $239K (5%), and new entrant Jeanologia, with $196K (4%).
In terms of origin countries, China dominated with 43% of the market, growing 85% to $2.03M. Ecuador followed with a 224% increase, contributing $857K and holding 18% of the share.
In contrast, Brazil saw a sharp decline of 60%, providing $603K (13%). Pakistan increased its exports to Peru by 222% to $548K, capturing 12%, while India's shipments rose by 104% to $530K (11%).
